At the Membership Conference, on emails and through other means, I’ve had tons of questions about why promotions and excellence awards from last year have not been awarded this year.
They will not be added in until the contract is settled. I have made several inquiries–not simply with the administration, but with past union leaders–and this is the practice. When the contract is concluded, all back pay from July (for ASP and ARPs) and September 1 (for all others) will be compensated.
I’m sorry to write with bad news. I’ve been reminded that with three year negotiations everyone waited for quite a while last time. That’s some solidarity! And we are even stronger this time around. I am confident that we will soon have a contract that benefits all members of the bargaining unit.
