Be There TODAY: Jesse Jackson on University Budget Cuts Monday 1/25 @ 1:00 Alumni Hall

Stand up and be there today for Chicago State University, Western, Eastern AND NEIU! Bring your students!!!!

Today at 1:00 in Alumni Hall. Civil rights champion Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr. will visit Northeastern Illinois University’s Main Campus to address our University Community. He will speak about the impact of the state budget impasse on higher education, and how this is affecting our students.

We hope that this event and Rev. Jackson’s timely message of support for higher education will compel Springfield to take action and resolve the budget crisis and support our students.

Rev. Jackson, founder and president of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, is one of America’s foremost civil rights, religious and political figures. He worked alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1960s Civil Rights Movement, and in 2000 was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.

With our recent celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and in the lead up to Black History Month, it will truly be an honor to host Rev. Jackson, and to have him deliver his message from our University.
