Hey UPI – I’m sending this again so everyone has the details of what we can do this coming Wednesday to get to Springfield at their fingertips.
Can you go to Springfield and can you encourage students to go? Are you handing out the to-do fliers in your classes and talking about the stalled budget process in classes?
Lastly, I would like to thank Provost Helldobler and all of the administration members working this weekend to to get out the announcement below and encouraging participation in this important moment in the life of our university and state.

Chicago State University has invited you and our students to join them for a rally in Springfield, Illinois this Wednesday, February 17 for the Governor’s Budget Address.
Our University Community is invited to take advantage of the bus transportation CSU has arranged from its campus to Springfield and back to CSU.
Faculty and staff who wish to participate must obtain their supervisors’ permission and take the time off as a personal/vacation day. Those who will participate should arrive at CSU by 6:30 a.m.

While the University continues to believe in putting students’ education first, I hope faculty will accommodate students to attend this important civic engagement opportunity during this unprecedented time in Illinois’ political history. Faculty who wish to verify student attendance at the rally will be provided with a list of students who attend.
