The sacrifice of pay days ends for UPI–and all NEIU employees–this Sunday 5/1.
If you are in an employee group that was going to sacrifice 9 days this spring (Teaching Professionals and Resource Professionals), you will sacrifice 7 days.
If you are in an employee group that was going to sacrifice 6 days this spring (Instructors, Academic Support Professionals, Academic Resource Professionals), you will sacrifice a total of 5 or 4 days depending on when you reported your days on your worksheet.
For the 6 day employee groups, NEIU Contract Adminsitrator Mark McKernin and NEIU/UPI Grievance Officer Cyndi Moran will review the worksheets together and make sure everyone’s pay is correct.
Mark and Cyndi are also working to confirm the formulas for how our pay has been deducted. Those of us, for example, who work over 9 but are paid over twelve months will still see reductions in our checks until our 7 days are paid. (When I present the formulas, they will include start and end dates so we can figure out our pay.)
I’m sorry about the earlier miscommunications on how the stop gap funding would affect UPI. The differences among the ways we are paid had to be worked out.
Questions? Let me know.
And thank you very much for all of the work you do for our students and for the union.
