Call to Action – This Week 6/28-30!

Dear friends and colleagues,

With only 3 days left until the end of fiscal year 16, I am asking that you complete a 3 in 3 challenge – call your legislators and the Governor at least THREE TIMES before FY 16 ends on Thursday June 30th. Higher Education cannot survive another year without full funding. We need to let the Governor and the General Assembly know that stop-gap, short-term funding is not the answer! This includes funding MAP grants! If our students cannot get the help they rely on and deserve there will be long-term adverse effects across our State.

The first part of each call script and toll-free number is provided by the Responsible Budget Coalition (RBC) as a general call to action. I am asking that we focus the end of our messages on the important role that Higher Education plays in the success of our State – Higher Education Creates Jobs! – and that MAP grants must also be funded.
Please share personal stories of struggle.

Hi, I am a constituent of Rep./Sen. NAME [Give name, full address and phone number] and I work for/receive services from/am a member of [Give name of your organization] in his/her district.

I’m calling to tell Rep./Sen. that Illinois needs to pass a responsible budget before the fiscal year ends on June 30th. Partial funding bills get desperately needed payments to struggling organizations so they can continue to operate in the short term. But, it’s not enough – Illinois needs a year-long, fully funded budget that chooses revenue for our families, communities, and small businesses. Non-budget agendas shouldn’t get in the way.

SPECIFY HIGHER EDUCATION: A responsible budget is important to me and [your organization] because [name specific service or sector if applicable] are being harmed by the budget impasse [share your/a story].

Call Governor Rauner toll free at 217-782-0244
