Thanks to all who participated in the NEIU Press Conference yesterday and thanks to the brilliant work of our students and UPI and AFSCME who organized the event and made it happen! We had support from IFT and the UPI 4100 Local that helped get the word out, and different members of our community reached out to their press contacts too.
We told our story well yesterday. Read through this overview from IFT Communications goddess Aviva Bowen.
UPI/NEIU members did a great job – as did their students, like this one featured on public radio:
Students like senior Patricia Burchfield primarily blamed Governor Bruce Rauner, saying she shouldn’t have to be protesting. “I would really like you to do your job, because I would like to get back to doing mine inside in the classroom and I have wasted enough time on your ego war.”
